We get it. Teenage birthday parties can be tricky. Actually, come to think of it, teenagers can be tricky full stop... You need something fun, (but that won’t get out of hand). Something that’s not quite kid-friendly, but not quite grown up either (don’t tell them we said that, though).
If you’re feeling like you’re out of ideas or looking for some inspiration, don’t stress. When it comes to hosting a great party for teenagers, a little bit of planning can go a long way. And keeping it low-key is your best bet for a fun, pressure-free party (less is more, after all).
Here are some of our top low-key party ideas to help you – from evening entertainment to the morning after. Some effective but easy wins for you with maximum impact, minimum cringe.
Movie or game night
There’s no need to overthink this one. Keep your guests entertained for hours by having a few favourite films lined up, plus a stack of board games to keep it varied. Think Scrabble, Monopoly, Catan, or even a poker set (no real money, of course).
Make sure to have some snack trays or grazing boards on hand. Chuck in some crisps, crackers, dips, cheese, fruit, nuts, pitta bread, cucumber, carrots… the more snacky bits, the better. Don’t forget to keep the juice on hand too – you don’t want your guests going thirsty!
Pizza party
You’ll need to make sure you’ve got the oven space for this one. If you do, you’re in luck. Just stock up on ingredients (toppings could be anything from shredded veg, to deli meats), and let your guests’ inner pizza chefs run wild. It’s fun and gets them fed too. Winner.
Here's a basic margherita recipe to help you get them started. But remember: when it comes to the toppings, there are no rules!
Mocktail Bar
Not only do mocktails taste great, but they’re a whole lot of fun to make. Set up a mocktail bar filled with interesting ingredients and garnishes, and see what happens.
Not sure where to start? Don’t worry – that’s where we come in. We’ve tried and taste-tested lots of mocktails that can be made with Eager’s classic juices (all in the name of science, of course). Here are some trusty favourites to get you started.
For the morning after the sleepover before…
We all know how hard it can be to get teenagers out of bed. But these delicious breakfast (or let’s be realistic: late brunch) ideas might help – we think they’re worth getting up for…
Pancake Grazing board – If there’s a way to make pancakes even better, then this is it. It’s all in the presentation: just make pancakes as you normally would, then heap them out on a board along with lashings of delicious toppings of your choice. No need to choose between sweet and savoury ones – on a board, you can have it all, and more. It’s a birthday after all, so it’s OK to go big.
Smoothies – always a favourite. Here are our favourites, which you can make with Eager juice. From healthy and delicious green smoothies to a colourful and leftover-busting apple juice smoothie, the possibilities are endless. You could even go the extra mile and make some smoothie bowls.
Brunch – Brunch sounds fancier than breakfast, and allows you to try some more ‘grown up’ options, from pastries to porridge, to avocado on toast. Whatever you go for, we can guarantee that the perfect juice pairing exists. Just don’t underestimate how much teenagers can get through – take it from us, it’s a lot.
Say goodbye to party stress
When the last thing you want is to run out of supplies, don’t stress – just get a juice delivery in beforehand and make running out of juice one less thing to worry about.
Eager’s classic juices come delivered to your door in boxes of six, including our ‘one of each’ multipack, so they’re a perfect low-effort way of keeping your shelves full and catering to all tastes. Plus you can store them anywhere, so no need to use up all your fridge space.
So despite what you might think, a teenage birthday party doesn’t have to be a stressful occasion – not with a bit of planning, anyway.
