APPLE JUICE • DRINK RECIPE

January detox? Kickstart your day (and year) with a green breakfast smoothie

eager green breakfast smoothie

Breakfast and juice are a match made in heaven – and whatever your breakfast of choice, we can guarantee there’s a perfect juice pairing for it.

But if you’re short on time, on a January detox, or just fancy mixing up your breakfast options a bit, then green smoothies are always a great choice.

And even though fruit has natural sugars, so our juice does too, these smoothies are high in nutrients, energy and flavour, and they’re great to have on the go.

So if you feel like treating yourself, then go for it – you could even make a delicious (and very Instagram-friendly) smoothie bowl while you’re at it.

Our apple juice – recently rated 4 out of 5 stars by the Telegraph – is the perfect base for any green smoothie. And since our juice can be stored anywhere, there’s minimal planning required. Now let’s get into some of our favourite recipes for you to enjoy.

Spinach and apple smoothie

A spinach and apple combo is a no-brainer for a green breakfast smoothie.

This take on the pairing, which we’ve based on this recipe from lifeisbutadish.com, uses dates to add sweetness and lemon juice for a bit of citrusy sharpness, while flax seeds supercharge your breakfast with nutrients without altering the taste.

When it comes to the chopped apple, you can customise your smoothie with your favourite variety to make it sweeter or more tart – the choice is yours!

Ingredients:

  • 175g spinach
  • ½ apple
  • 125ml Eager apple juice
  • ½ banana
  • 90g cucumber
  • 2 dates
  • ½ tbsp flax seeds
  • Squeeze of lemon
  • Large handful of ice

Kale and apple smoothie

Kale is another superfood capable of doing the heavy lifting in a green breakfast smoothie – it’s a fantastic source of vitamins, fibre and antioxidants.

But it’s not just for influencers and LA types – we love the way it tastes with our apple juice for an easy morning treat. A little bit of banana goes a long way here, giving your smoothie a richer, creamier texture.

Ingredients:

  • 130g kale, chopped and with thick stems removed
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 125ml Eager apple juice
  • ½ banana
  • Handful of ice
  • Squeeze of lemon

This smoothie keeps it nice and simple in terms of flavour, while a hit of added ginger gives it an extra kick – for those mornings when you really need it. If you feel like going the extra mile, or want a bit more texture in your smoothie, you could use granola, coconut flakes, or goji berries as a topping. Optional, but delicious!

Ingredients:

  • 2 stalks celery
  • 6cm cucumber
  • 1cm fresh ginger, peeled
  • 250ml Eager apple juice

So, there you go - new year, new breakfast. With our apple juice on hand to help, try making a green breakfast smoothie your new staple.
