You bought a box of juice. You had grand plans. Maybe you just wanted something other than water. Maybe you thought it would make your shelves look a bit prettier. But now that half-full bottle of juice is still sitting there, taking up space in the fridge. First of all, just drink it, you weirdos. It’s great juice. But if that’s too straightforward for you, here are five no-nonsense ways to use up that leftover juice before it turns into a science experiment.
1. Juice Ice Cubes
Got juice? Got an ice cube tray? Great, you’re all set. Here’s how to do it! And boom—juice ice cubes. Throw them in your morning juice, or even in a gin or lemonade. No more annoying watered-down drinks—just flavourful refreshment.
2. Ice Lollies
Remember those hot summer days when all you needed was an ice lolly to make everything better? Guess what? You don’t need to be a child to enjoy one. Pour your juice into some moulds, stick them in the freezer, and wait. In a few hours, you’ll have your own fruity ice lollies! Plus, you made them, so that means they’ll taste better too. 3. Mocktails and Cocktails
Whether you're in the mood for a classic cocktail or a refreshing mocktail, your leftover juice is the perfect base. Mix it with some soda, add a splash of fresh fruit or a twist of citrus, and you’ve got yourself a drink that’s both tasty and impressive. Don’t forget to throw in those juice ice cubes to keep things cool without diluting the flavour. You can find some recipes for these on our blog. Cheers to that!
4. Smoothies
Take that leftover juice, throw it in a blender with whatever fruits or veggies you’ve got lying around, and you’ve got yourself a smoothie. It’s a quick and easy way to use up what’s in your fridge. Plus, it’s an excuse to drink more juice, and who’s going to argue with that? Try out our smoothie recipes here!
5. Salad Dressing
Here’s a wild idea: use that leftover juice to make a salad dressing. It’s not as weird as it sounds—here’s a recipe for a fresh Orange Vinaigrette using leftover OJ.
You will need:
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2-3 tsp grated orange zest
- 80ml EAGER Orange Juice
- 2 tsp honey
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 80ml extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tbsp minced shallot
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
In a small bowl, mix together the vinegar, orange zest, orange juice, honey, mustard, olive oil, shallot, and salt until fully emulsified.
Alternatively, you can add the ingredients to a small jar with a tight-fitting lid and shake until emulsified.
Drizzle over your salad, and store refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 1 week!
6. Glazed Carrots
Got orange juice hanging around? Why not give your roasted veg a sweet and tangy twist? Here’s how!
