ORANGE JUICE

Prosecco and orange juice: the christmas pair up we can get behind

prosecco and orange juice

Party season is upon us, and whether it’s an impromptu gathering ‘back at ours’, or a full blown ‘do’, there is one simple flavour combination that will bring some festive fizz to any situation: prosecco and orange juice.

Once upon a time, dry champagne was orange juice’s perfect partner, but these days the cheaper and sweeter prosecco has taken over – making already versatile classics like bucks fizz and bellinis more popular than ever.

Yep, prosecco and orange juice were meant to be together, and boy have we experimented with them over the years. Here are some of them:

Classic mimosa

So simple yet so fancy, the mimosa has been a party stalwart for the last 98 years for a reason. Great for a last minute party cocktail, to tempt those that find prosecco too dry, or a (slightly) less alcoholic afternoon option.

Making a classic mimosa couldn’t be simpler. Fill a champagne flute half way with prosecco, then top up with orange juice. That’s it. Ta da!

Ingredients

Blushing mimosa

For an extra fruity twist on the classic mimosa, the blushing mimosa brings pineapple juice and grenadine to the orange and prosecco party.

Simply stir the orange juice, pineapple juice and grenadine together and fill champagne flutes half way. Then fill to the top with prosecco.

Ingredients

Apricot spritz

Sweet apricot liqueur brings a light, freshness to the classic mimosa base in this indulgent but simple crowd pleaser, using extra dry Mionetto Prestige prosecco to perfectly balance out the sweetness.

In a mixing glass, add apricot liqueur, orange juice, and the Mionetto Prosecco. Add ice, and roll the contents between the mixing glass and a cocktail shaker (or stir or shake if you don’t have both), to chill the contents. Pour into a wine glass over ice and serve with a squeeze of orange peel over the top. Belissima.

Style it out

OK, so the cocktails might be simple. But glasses and garnishes can give your cocktails a little injection of ‘fancy’, and most of the ingredients can be found in your overflowing christmas store cupboard.

A twist of orange peel is the classic accompaniment for an orange cocktail like a mimosa, but a sprinkle of zest around the rim, or a dried orange slice on the side gives great christmas vibes.

Planning ahead...

Get your orange juice orders in early to avoid stressful last-minute dashes to the shops. Eager juices come in boxes of six that can be stored anywhere, so they won’t take up precious room in your fridge - just stick one in to chill a few minutes before you’re ready to make your drinks. Cheers 🥂
