Get ready for sparks to fly with these banging bonfire night cocktails

bonfire night cocktails eager

Remember, remember the 5th of November; fireworks, warm layers and… juice.

Bonfire night is almost here, giving us another great excuse to let our inner mixologists loose.

Mulled punch is a great way of keeping hands warm while you’re wrapped up watching fireworks in the garden or park, and we love using our Eager juices to bring these fruity cocktails to life.

The traditional way to make mulled punch is to warm up your ingredients in a large pan on the hob, but if you have a slow-cooker, you can also make your punch (and mulled wine come Christmas) in there too.

From apple and cranberry, to a chilli-vodka twist, make your evening go with a bang with these bonfire night cocktails – guaranteed to warm you from the inside out:

The ultimate hand-warmer, this fruity mocktail is perfect for the whole family to sip, or you can add a splash of rum for grown-up glasses.

In a large pot, combine the pear juice, Eager cranberry juice, cinnamon stick, and cloves.

Heat over a medium heat until it begins to simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Add the orange and pear slices to the pot and let the punch simmer for 30 minutes to allow the flavours to mix together.

Remove the cinnamon stick and cloves before serving and ladle the punch into mugs or heat-resistant glasses, and garnish with additional pear slices.

Ingredients (makes 4):

  • 950ml pear juice
  • 235ml Eager cranberry juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cloves
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 pear, thinly sliced

Hot apple pie punch with Eager apple juice

An autumnal apple pie, in liquid form! This sweet and gently spiced mulled apple juice is just the ticket for bonfire night and works brilliantly with a splash of rum too.

Put the cinnamon, ground cloves, nutmeg, Eager apple juice and vanilla extract in a large saucepan and bring to a gentle simmer.

When the liquid has warmed through, add the vanilla ice cream and whisk vigorously with a balloon whisk until melted and combined with the hot apple juice – the ice cream should make a frothy top on the juice.

Pour a splash of dark rum into the bottom of the adults’ cups and top up with the hot punch. Garnish with apple crisps.

Ingredients (makes 8):

  • 1 ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • A good pinch ground cloves
  • ½ whole grated nutmeg
  • 2l Eager apple juice
  • 2tsp vanilla extract
  • 6 scoops vanilla ice cream
  • Dark rum (optional)
  • Apple crisps to garnish

Fireworks on the beach with Eager juice

Sparklers are definitely not just for the kids this bonfire night, they make a really fun addition to your cocktails too (always use caution). We love this juicy, sparkly cocktail from Little Sugar Snaps; inspired by the classic Sex on the Beach, but with a serious kick.

It combines three of our favourite juices – Eager orange, cranberry and pineapple juice – with peach schnapps and chilli vodka (which you can make yourself really simply following this BBC Good Food recipe).

Simply fill a tall glass with ice cubes and add a few chunks of pineapple. Pour the liquid ingredients into a cocktail shaker and shake with ice for 30 seconds. Strain into the glass and garnish with a slice of fresh pineapple, a red chilli, and a sparkler if you’re feeling fiery – then serve immediately.

Ingredients (makes 1):

So whether you’re warming up with a mulled punch or swapping your mug for a martini glass, you can make your bonfire night drinks as show-stopping as the fireworks themselves.
